Join us as we welcome musician Jared Saltiel for a special evening performance at Literati. He will be sharing music from his new album Out of Clay.
About Out of Clay:
With his new album Out of Clay, Jared Saltiel delivers a collection of story-songs about love, idealization and disillusionment. The music draws from far-flung influences — the reconstructed classical aesthetics of Rufus Wainwright, the medieval flourishes of Joanna Newsom, the dense, jazz-inflected harmony of Brazilian pop’s golden era, and the spacey grandiosity of classic Britpop. Saltiel’s intricate classical guitar and expressive vocals are adorned by an elaborate tapestry of instrumentation which features strings, woodwinds, harp, mandolin, french horn and a trio of women’s voices. “Wayward Queen,” the first single from the new album, is due out October 17th.
Jared Saltiel is a singer-songwriter, producer and arranger. An Ann Arbor native, he was the lead singer and songwriter of pop/rock quartet the Dirty Birds. After the release of their debut album How the Cause Became the Cure, Saltiel moved to New York and focused on his solo material, leading to his next full-length, 2013’s The Light Within. As a producer and multi-instrumentalist, Jared has worked with Bell the Band, Lee Reit, Cassidy Andrews, and his brother Jason Saltiel.
