We're pleased to welcome Debbie Gonzales for a very special storytime, with a reading from her new book Girls with Guts!: The Road to Breaking Barriers and Bashing Records. Coloring sheets will be available, and--any young person in attendance in an athletic uniform will win a prize!
Note: this event will be held in Literati's lower level. The event is free and open to the public.
About the book: A celebration of the strength, endurance, and athleticism of women and girls, this picture book cites examples of women athletes from the late 1800s up through the 1970s, sharing how women refused to take no for an answer, and how finally, they pushed for a law to protect their right to play, compete, and be athletes.
About the author: Debbie Gonzales is an educator, curriculum consultant, former school administrator, and adjunct professor. She's the author of six books for New Zealand publisher Giltedge.
