The Open Book Project: Book Launch

Friday, July 11, 2014 - 7:00pm

Literati is Honored to host The Open Book Project in celebration of their book, chronicling the work of this impressive and unique project.

Co-organized by Leslie Atzmon and Ryan Molloy, The Open Book Project is a venture that includes a 2010 exhibition, an intensive summer workshop held yearly in rural northern Michigan, a special issue of the journal Book 2.0, and The Open Book Project book that will be featured at the event.

Loosely defining the book as an object that organizes or arranges written, verbal, or visual content—such as pages, chapters, or signatures—The Open Book Project seeks to encourage exploration of the unconventional forms “books” might take, to challenge notions of what books can be, and to promote further discussion about the culture, legacy, and future of books. The Open Book Project is supported by a National Endowment of the Arts (NEA) Art Works Design grant and by Eastern Michigan University.

At this event, Ryan Molloy and Leslie Atzmon will discuss how The Open Book Project began. They will also present their ideas about the project content and the work that they’ve done on Open Book over the last five years.
