Poetry in Michigan / Michigan in Poetry release & reading

Poetry in Michigan Michigan in Poetry from New Issues Press Wednesday, December 4, 7:00 p.m. at Literati Bookstore, 124 E. Washington Street in downtown Ann Arbor.  A “sampler” type of reading will commence in which poets featured in the anthology will read for five minutes. The list for those reading from the anthology are: Linda Gregerson, David Cope, Lizzie Hutton, Laura Kasischke, Josie Kearns, Thomas Lynch, Alison Swan and Keith Taylor.

 

Individual poems are paired with artists’ work for a stunning collection of both beautiful and inspiring art and poetry.  Over ninety poets’ and thirty artists’ work grace the covers of Poetry in Michigan Michigan in Poetry.  Many Ann Arbor artists’ work is included in the collection:  Mary Brodbeck, Michelle Calkins, Jean Canavan, Nathan Caplan, Martha Ceccio, Karin Wagner Coron, Steve Coron, Lori Feldpausch, Steve Gilzow, David Grath, Ladislav Hanka, Carol Hanna, Lois Lovejoy, Stephen Magsig, Alanna Pfeffer, Katie Platte, Meridith Ridl, Craig Seaver, Erin Scott, Tom Walsh, Mary Whalen, Nancy Wolfe, and Patrick Young.

 

In the preface of the book, Jim Daniels writes: “William Olsen and Jack Ridl have put together a wonderful selection here that reflects the voices and landscapes of one of the most distinct of the fifty states.
